Manhattan Beach Celebrates 100 Years

Saturday, May 19, 2012 Manhattan Beach kicked off the Centennial Celebration with a parade and an afternoon at Polliwog Park.  Food trucks line up at the park to feed the hungry visitors a variety of cuisines.  Children enjoyed an art project, and kids of all ages listened to the band playing mostly surf music.  Visitors streamed through the tiny house that now is called home to the Manhattan Beach Historical Society viewing original woolen bathing suits and photos of the city when it was mostly just sand dunes and the sea.  No birhtday celebration is complete without birthday cake, and the city had several on hand to feed the crowd.
