Schools

Many Beach City home buyers are attracted to the area by the excellent public and private schools.  Manhattan Beach operates pre-school through high school  through theManhattan Beach Unified School District (http://www.manhattan.k12.ca.us/.)  Elementary schools include Grand View,  Pacific, Robinson, Meadows and Pennecamp and the boudaries for each are mapped out on the  district website.  There is also a Manhattan Beach Middle School and Mira Costa High School.  Every school in the district earned 10 stars for API test scores, and each one is a California Distinguished School.  Forbes Magazine ranked the Manhattan Beach Unified School District number one in the nation for cities of similar high incomes.  The numerous other awards and accomplishments are listed under “Achievements” on the district website.

 

The Hermosa Beach City School District (www.hbcsd.org) operates two schools, Hermosa View for kindergarten through second grade, and Valley School for third grade through eighth grade.  Both schools have been awarded the status of California Distinguished School and National Blue Ribbon winner.

The largest school district is Redondo Union School District with eight elementary schools, two middle schools, a high school and a continuation high school.  Maps and information are available at www.rbusd.org.

The newest school to the area is a private high school, Vista Mar (www.VistaMarSchool.org) for grades 9-12 with an enrollment of 220 students.  The focus of the school is on a global perspective and excellence in science and language.  Typical class sizes are under 16 students.
